What is happening this week in the world of eCommerce.

TikTok finally picks a winner and it's not going to be Walmart. This is terrible news for eCommerce Sellers because this would have been a huge win when it came to Walmart.com. Walmart would have had consumer data and treated TikTok like a Facebook/Instagram where content creators will be able to have the ability to tag Walmart.com products and swipe up feature to funnel users to the Walmart.com platform. Ultimately, this was Walmart.com best shoot to compete with Amazon.com when it comes in eCommerce and it lost. Amazon FBA sellers were excited about this brand new hope that Walmart will finally compete with Amazon, but it seems like all that hope is gone now.

Former Amazon Executives believes that Walmart+ doesn't have the ability to compete with Amazon as it currently stands. Walmart+ offers same day delivery on some of their in-store products, discounts on gas, a scan and go feature for in-store shoppers, along with some discounts on products. This does nothing for their online store. Again, this is no help to eCommerce/ Amazon FBA sellers as it doesn't promote Walmart.com. Amazon FBA sellers will still find that Amazon is still more focused on online and Walmart continues to be more focused on in-store.

We all know that Amazon plays by their own rules and it's apparent with the new CNN survey that found 70 AmazonBasics products had more than 1500 reviews that mentioned the product exploding, melting, or catching fire. 30 of those products are still selling on Amazon.com. If an Amazon FBA seller had a product selling on the platform with these type of reviews, you could expect your product to be pulled immediately and your seller privileges to be revoked forever. But Amazon FBA sellers are not Amazon. We will see what kind of ramifications Amazon get by Congress. We have seen these stories before and nothing has been done. I am sure we will see more of the same.

As most businesses in the United States struggle to stay open or get business in 2020, Amazon stays being the biggest winner. They have announced they are looking to add 100,000 more jobs before Q4. Amazon currently has 1 million permit workers so these new jobs will increase their workforce by 10%. This basically means that Amazon FBA better do all they can do to continue to grow their brands and eCommerce presence. eCommerce is and will be the future and brick and mortar will continue to struggle for years to come. Get with the program or get left behind.
