Part 8 - WordPress Ecommerce Options

An Ecommerce websites can mean many things, as it depends on the type of business and the level of commitment by that business to online growth.

When we are talking about ecommerce setup in WordPress, with hundreds of plugins that allow for some form on online payment processing - this 'many things to many people' is no exaggeration.

Now, with that said. I believe the three major categories of e-commerce setups that can be had are:
1) Physical products that are shipped
2) Digital products that are virtually delivered
3) Simple one of payment for services rendered

For these three use cases, we can use the following plugins:
1) WooCommerce - for physical, digital or one off (yep, covers most use cases)
2) Surecart - for digital and service offering
3) Fluent Form - for digital products and one-off payments (Form plugin that accepts payments)

Obviously, there is considerable overlap across these plugins, and the right one depends on the businesses needs.
