Karnataka is currently witnessing a milk war. The Amul versus Nandini milk debate has spilled into politics and business. On April 5, Amul announced that it was entering the Bengaluru market via e-commerce channels. The announcement created a social media storm. Soon hashtags such as #SaveNandini and #GobackAmul began to trend online. The hashtag war unfolded following concerns over Amul’s entry and the threat it poses to the state’s local brand Nandini, which belongs to the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).
