We Need to Talk about Influencers Promoting TERRIBLE Companies (Temu Sponsorships)

Temu has one of the most popular mobile apps in the Western world. The e-commerce site allows users to bypass Western storefronts and chains and buy Chinese consumer goods directly from the source for extremely cheap prices. Temu's marketing relies on users inviting their friends and promises people free items if enough people sign up using their code. They also rely on affiliate programs with YouTubers, TikTokers and Instagram profiles to promote their cheap goods.

Temu encapsulates so much that is wrong with consumerism. Western exploitation of the global South, huge environmental impacts and cybersecurity concerns are all a factor with Temu - Influencers should not be promoting this company to their followers.
