[Hello and welcome! This is the first of many episodes of my historical guessing game TiME SLiP - Spot The Anachronism!]
In 1712, the French town of Troyes stood at the crossroads of trade and craft. Known for its thriving guilds and bustling artisan quarters, it was a hub for everyday makers, including candlemakers who supplied homes, taverns, and churches with light.
This episode enters one such workshop. Wicks are braided by hand. Wax simmers over an open hearth. The shelves drip with freshly dipped tapers, ready for market.
But one object does not belong. Can you find it?
(This video is a creative interpretation inspired by real history. While I’ve done my best to include accurate details, it’s not meant to be a perfect reconstruction. The goal is to spark interest in a fun way and encourage you to explore the real history for yourself.)
[How to Play TiME SLiP]
Ready to test your eye for detail? Here’s how to make it even more fun:
1. Find the Anachronism: One modern object is hidden in this historical scene. Can you spot what doesn’t belong?
2. Track How Often It Appears: In some episodes, the anachronism shows up in just one scene. In others, it appears more than once. Watch closely.
3. Play with Friends: Compete to see who can find it first. Time yourself or count how many replays it takes to catch it.
