Somali supermodel and entrepreneur Iman will turn 65 on Friday (24 JULY 2020).
Born Zara Mohamed Abdulmajid to a diplomat father and a gynecologist mother in Somalia, the star was discovered while a student at the University of Nairobi and moved to New York to pursue modelling.
She became a muse for the likes of Gianni Versace and Yves Saint Laurent and went on to grace the cover of the most prestigious fashion magazines at the time.
Iman launched her cosmetics line in 1994 and has collaborated on clothing line Global Chic since 2007.
She has been involved in philantropic work, mostly with charities protecting children and fighting for human rights.
Iman has been married three times; her third marriage - to musician David Bowie - left her a widow in 2016. She has two daughters.
