Mr. Nitin Saluja, Amazon India's Senior Policy Manager for Customer Trust: Amazon has a larger role to play in India's digital revolution and thriving digital economy. We have made major investments in logistics to assist small businesses, including 60 fulfillment facilities, 10850 Amazon-owned partner delivery centers, and sorting centers in 19 states. Ecommerce can be used to build a strong digital business that will support the livelihoods of millions of people. The National Innovation Foundation (NIF) Incubation Council and Amazon have stepped forward to provide robust distribution technologies for grassroots entrepreneurs. These technologies are being used not only for selling on e-commerce platforms like Amazon, but also for creating specific storefronts to ensure that these products do not slip past the eyes of potential customers. Some initiatives are also being pursued in collaboration with NIF with a focus on capacity-building workshops and training programs for grassroots innovators for them to fully leverage the marketplace. Amazon's approach has been to digitally enable sellers of all sizes by implementing new technologies to unlock customer selection, lower operational costs for them so that they can earn more value, and build an infrastructure to ensure fast and reliable delivery to all customers. As part of this endowment, we invested USD 1 billion (1) in January 2020 to digitize 10 million small and medium-sized enterprises, (2) to enable $10 billion in exports, and (3) to create 2 million jobs by 2022. We have already digitalized 2.5 million small and medium-sized businesses, resulting in 3 billion USD in exports and the creation of 1 million jobs. We are committed to digitally enabling them and collaborating with them to build national and global enterprises in India.

About ISTI Portal:
India Science, Technology and Innovation (ISTI) Web Portal is a centralized, one-stop repository system for scientific research activities which includes information on their intricate details. With the vision of providing a single-window source of information about science in India by aggregating information on scientific inputs and outputs and disseminating related contents, ISTI Portal is an attempt to address the gaps of identified issues and compute the impact of funding to enhance effectiveness. The portal will leverage the Government of India’s fundamental intent of funding the STI efforts across thousands of organizations, extract the information and make it available to the scientific community in specific and the common public in general.

Accordingly, ISTI web portal has been envisaged as a user-friendly destination, which is as intuitive as possible with content retrieval. The portal presents the respective repositories of ongoing and recently completed research projects, technologies developed, innovations, funding opportunities, programmes and schemes, scholarships and fellowships, organisations, and so on. The portal is pacing to become the gateway for users to fetch adequate information related to the Indian STI Ecosystem. The portal is in the process of developing the data architecture to have a continuous updated, standardised inflow of content. ISTI portal would provide insights and analytics of the information related to research, technologies, innovations, funding, etc. as data visualization by implementing data architecture in information systems. The portal contemplates itself as an impactful platform for informed decision-making for policymaking.

ISTI Portal would be evolved and paced in the shape of STI Observatory to fit in the concepts and upgraded to an open access system as per the requirements, envisaged in Draft STI Policy 2020. It is being planned and proposed as the foundation of the larger mission of STI Observatory, which would be a one-point data centre as well as the face of scientific data in India.
