Gen Z and millennial consumers demand convenience, speed, and flexibility when it comes to online shopping. But poor UX at checkout, speed, and trust are hurdles to e-commerce adoption and break the customer journey leading to high cart abandonments and poor consumer experience. What this also leads to is a high dependence on Cash on Delivery (CoD), where 60-70% of transactions are CoD-based in India. While this suggests a trust deficit, it also results in high inefficiencies for e-tailers, including high returns and low transaction frequency and volumes.
