Trendy/Seasonal products shouldn't be sold on Amazon, is that right?
As an Amazon seller, you have probably heard that don't go for trendy or seasonal products. Even I advise beginners not to go for trendy products.
Yes, Trendy products have a high risk of loss; that's why Amazon mentors guide beginners not to go with trendy or seasonal products.
Nevertheless, if you are an experienced seller & willing to take risks, you should consider trendy products. You're missing out on a lot of opportunities if you don't go for trendy products.

WHAT IS A TRENDY PRODUCT?
“A product which has a high sales rate due to any trend, event, or activity for a limited timeline.”
Just like COVID-19 had a dramatic effect on the sales of face masks and sanitizers. Those who sold these items made high sales with high profit margins.
Although you have to keep two things in mind while selling trendy products on Amazon:
Start selling your product at the beginning of the trend rather than at the peak.
Every trendy product has a timeline. Be mindful of the timeline & don't sell your product at the end of the trend.

HOW TO HUNT TRENDY PRODUCTS?
Normally, sellers and VAs enter keywords to check product scores, reviews and stats on Helium 10 or Jungle Scout; if everything works out, they choose that product to sell on Amazon, & if they find bad reviews & sales, they hunt for another product.
The interesting thing here is that this strategy should not be used to hunt trendy products since if the item has good stats & score then, it means it's at peak of sales & the trend is about to end
Sellers usually lose money on trendy items when they launch the product too late.

WHAT'S THE SOLUTION!!!
To find trendy products follow these steps:
Go to Brand Analytics in Seller Central.
Check the Top 30 keywords in the marketplace.
Pick general keywords like "gift for her/him,"
Search for the keyword in the Google search bar.
When you search keyword on Google, SERP will show you Amazon and eBay, Etsy, Shopify and many more results.
You have to check for product presence on other e-commerce marketplaces & platforms like Etsy, Shopify, Ebay.
Make sure that the product sales are very low on Amazon compared to other e-commerce platforms; this will guarantee you that the trend is on the beginning stage.
And that's the right time to sell the product. Secondly, you must associate that general keyword with your brand on Amazon.
