Shopify and Amazon are two of the biggest names in the ecommerce world. But although both services let you put your products in front of a huge audience, they are very different platforms. Shopify is an online service that lets you build your own online store, but Amazon actually is an online store — and a huge one at that, with billions of products on sale to over 300 million customers worldwide.

When you sell on Shopify, it's like renting a space in which to set up your own shop. But using Amazon is more like selling your goods in a massive supermarket. With Shopify, you'll have to do more work to set things up the way you want and find customers to sell your products to. However, you'll have more control over everything.

You can decide exactly how your brand is presented, what your store looks like, how you capture data, and the way you sell your goods. With Amazon, the customer base is already there, but so is your competition.
