Jack Ma is a Chinese entrepreneur and philanthropist, best known as the co-founder and former executive chairman of Alibaba Group, one of the world's largest e-commerce companies. He was born on September 10, 1964 in Hangzhou, China and grew up during the Cultural Revolution. He struggled academically and failed his college entrance exam three times before finally being admitted to Hangzhou Normal University.

After graduation, Ma applied for and was rejected from 30 different jobs, including positions at KFC and the police force. Undeterred, he started his own company, which eventually led to the creation of Alibaba in 1999. The company grew rapidly, and by 2014 it had become the world's largest IPO, raising $25 billion.

Over the years, Ma has become known for his philanthropic work, particularly through the Jack Ma Foundation, which aims to promote education, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability. In 2019, he stepped down from his role as executive chairman of Alibaba to focus on his philanthropic endeavors. However, he has since come under scrutiny from the Chinese government, and his whereabouts have been unknown for several months.
