Mark Cohen, former CEO of Sears Canada and director of retail studies at Columbia Business School, joins BNN Bloomberg to talk about navigating cross-border expansion. In the wake of Nordstrom winding down in Canada and the steady stream of retail losses, including Lowe's and Target Canada, he says he'd be willing to bet that most attempts to globalize either fail or turn out to be something less than expected. Cohen also says Nordstrom should have prioritized the Vancouver market to capitalize on brand equity from cross-border shopping.
