A toy that reportedly landed a child in emergency surgery is still being sold by the e-commerce retailer it was purchased from. It has been removed from at least one e-commerce platform. Media outlets reported over the weekend that a nine year-old girl had to have 10cm of her small intestine removed after she swallowed 14 magnetic balls. CNA has reached out to the Consumer Product Safety Office for comments. The doctor who treated the child said parents should keep an eye out for toys that pose more risks, including magnetic and sharp toys, as well as those with lithium batteries.
