2020 Rabbi Marcus Breger Memorial Lecture presented by: Maxwell E. Greenberg
The 2020 Breger Lecture will provide a bi-regional snapshot of the Jewish experience between Tijuana- San Diego and El Paso-Ciudad Juárez, between the years 1911 and 1933. Greenberg will explore how Jewish immigration, commerce and mobility in the border region was affected by the Mexican Revolution, US prohibition, a new national Quota system in the US, and the creation of US Border Patrol.
Maxwell E Greenberg is the Jewish History Museum's 2020 Scholar-in-Residence and Doctoral Candidate, Cesar E Chavez Department of Chicana/o Studies, UCLA.
