Indian government's foray into e-commerce with ONDC i.e. Open Network for Digital Commerce could be at good timing since India's online retail industry is e expected to become the 3rd largest global market by 2030. As of now, ONDC has already expanded to 236 cities and has 36,000 merchants on its platform.

It is already competing with Swiggy, Zomato, Myntra, Flipkart and their likes and wants to enter the financial industry. Apart from gift cards, it is also thinking of bringing Fastag and insurance products onboard. Could ONDC be the UPI of e-commerce and change the dynamics of what a super app is capable of?
