How to Raise Money as an entrepreneur: Startup Funding Explained

Raising money is one of the most important things you need to know about as your business grows. Additional capital can enable your business to grow beyond your wildest expectations, adding new funding towards marketing, sales and hiring. I outline 7 different routes to fundraising that you should look at and know about as an entrepreneur and business owner. The routes of fundraising which I give tips on are:

* Family, friends and your network of potential investors.
* Startup Accelerators.
* Equity investors and venture capitalists.
* Government & local council supports and subsidies.
* Crowdfunding.
* Bank loans and financing.

There are many different avenues to raising capital for your business and I explain the potential pitfalls to watch out for as I have learned most of them the hard way! It is vital for you as an entrepreneur to soak up all of this free knowledge to help you make better choices that will save you time on your journey which I wish I had starting out. The level of startup funding you can raise for your business will depend on your business plan and the return on investment that you can offer in return to potential investors and lenders.

I started Krüst as a food business when I was 23 years old, it grew to become a multi-million business over the next 5 years, employing hundreds of people as we grew to become Ireland's largest supplier of donuts, selling to National retailers, before I sold my stake in 2018 to focus on growing my new technology company Parkpnp "the Airbnb for parking spaces" and later ParkOffice, the "World's first parking software for offices", with some of the leading Fortune 500 companies such as Colliers, Indeed and Netflix as happy clients. Innovation is key."

I have personally raised over $2m dollars for my businesses and get asked questions constantly on this topic by aspiring entrepreneurs, hence the video today which I hope has provided you with some of the basic tips to fundraising. I will be covering many of the topics discussed on how to raise money in more detail in later videos.

This video along with the others I am doing right now are part of the beginners guide to starting a business playlist on my channel. Over the last few months I have been helping many different aspiring entrepreneurs during my innovation Saturday sessions where I jump on a call for 15-30 minutes each Saturday with as many entrepreneurs as possible. Many of the questions I get asked about startups are similar so therefore I thought it would be better and more scalable to put the answers here on youtube to help as many aspiring entrepreneurs as possible in one go.
