How to Add Social Share Buttons on WordPress

Learn how you can add social sharing buttons that can allow your website visitor to share your posts or content on their social media platforms.

You can do this in 3 simple steps.

Once you have completed these steps you can add the social sharing buttons to your WordPress website.

Let’s get started.

Step 1: Install the “sassy social share” plugin on your WordPress website.

To install the plugin, let’s go to the ‘WordPress dashboard’.

Then go to ‘Plugins’ and click ‘Add New’.

Now search for “sassy social share” in the search field.

Once you find it click “Install” and click “Activate”.

Once you’ve activated the plugin we can go to the next step.

Step 2: Choose the social networks you want to add, to your site.

To choose your required social networks which you want to add it to your website,

Open the Plugins settings page.

And then click “Standard Interface”.

You can see a number of social sharing platforms which can be added to your website.

You can select your required platforms among them.

Once you’ve selected your social networks, we can now move to the next step.

Step 3: Choose where you want to display your buttons.

Now to choose where you want your buttons to be displayed,

Go to the “Placement section” in the plugin settings page and choose the place where you want.

Once you have completed choosing the platforms and place where you want to display,

Click “Save Changes”.

As soon as you click save changes your social sharing buttons will be added to your website.

And now your visitors can share the content or posts on your website to their social media platforms just by clicking them.

Now to change the shape of your button,

Go to “Themes section” in plugin settings.

And choose the shape you want.

Now if you want to display your sharing buttons floating on the screen,

You need to go to “Floating Interface” in the plugin settings page
And follow Step 2 & Step 3.

Next let’s see how you can add number of shares next to our sharing buttons.

To show share counts, go to “standard interface”

And enable “show total shares”.

Now whenever a visitor shares your post or content from your website the share count would increase.

But you can see when you share a post from facebook share, the share count is not working.

Now in order to make this share count work we need to connect our website with facebook.

To connect it you need to get the details of “Facebook App id & Facebook App secret” which is required in the “Miscellaneous section”

To get these details,

go to “developers.facebook.com” and log in with your facebook account.
Create an App and go to basic settings.

Now copy the required details and paste it in the required fields of “Miscellaneous section”.

Click “save changes” and you can now get the share counts when a visitor shares a post in facebook.
