LinkedIn is one of the very few platforms that still offers organic reach. What is organic reach? It basically means a platform’s ability to reach strangers. It exposes your content to people that you don’t know… yet.

Once the pandemic hit, networking halted. In person meetings stopped. People started talking about things and LinkedIn posts had better interactions and better reach. More people were online and seeking information.

Some people are intimidated by LinkedIn or think it’s just a ‘resume’ site but it’s not. Since we are sure that most of you are familiar with Facebook, you can think of it as the ‘Facebook of ‘reach’ and new features.

There are a couple of ways to use LinkedIn. You can have a personal account and/or a business account. If you happen to run a business we definitely recommend having both types of accounts set up. The cool thing about LinkedIn is that you can actually link your pages together. Other employees can connect as well, essentially creating a webbed network of people all linked under the business name.

What can you post?

Anything you want! For a personal account even posting 1-2 sentences about how your day is going is sufficient. It’s better to be yourself, and not be spammy like a bot. Mass producing posts turns people away because it looks like spam. People want to interact with other people.

If you’re posting for your business don’t just make it all about selling what you have to offer. One of our mottos is to give give give. We want you to give valuable information so that you build trust with potential customers/clients. Building trust is key in this business.

Just like Facebook, you can comment, like, etc with other people. We recommend building others up (not tearing them down). The powerful thing about commenting is that you can open the opportunity for an organic conversation.

We know that posting and engaging can be time consuming but you can try to get members of your team to help out and you will start to see results.

There’s a new ‘live’ feature on LinkedIn now as well. What’s cool is that because it’s new, and not a lot of people are using it, the algorithm will automatically promote it for you!

So what is the benefit of a live? Well, take for instance someone who is a CPA and we’re coming up on new tax laws at tax time. If you go live and give out tax information, explaining the new laws, and take time to answer questions, that starts to build that trust with clients. You can also repurpose that live and use the video on other social platforms. Make sure to always include a CTA (call to action) so that people can navigate to your site or other resources.

LinkedIn is ripe for opportunities right now. There’s no harm in trying something new because at the very least, you’re putting yourself out there. Marketing is an ongoing journey to connect with new people. This small investment of your time could really see some results.
