Are entrepreneurs insane?
Yes and no.
Many of the personality traits found in entrepreneurs ADHD, bipolar spectrum conditions, depression, and substance abuse -- are also traits associated with creativity, extroversion, open-mindedness, and a propensity for risk.
Most entrepreneurs are a touch crazy and IMHO that's a great thing.
For most individuals, the entire idea of creating your own business is nuts. There's no steady income, no blueprint for how to build it, and a significant risk that it may all come crashing down. But for those of us who the entrepreneur bug has bitten, it's all worth it.
The key? Recall the first of three maxims inscribed in the pronaos of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi: Know thyself.
The two maxims that followed "know thyself" were "nothing to excess" and "certainty brings insanity".
Swim in the uncertainty and enjoy the ride!
