Supermarket chain Freshippo, owned by e-commerce giant Alibaba, conducted COVID-19 tests for its employees and others in Shenzhen on Saturday, after three workers contracted the virus at one of its stores.
The nucleic acid tests took place outside of the IBC mall in Shenzhen, the same location where the virus is believed to have passed onto one staff member and two brand promoters. Hundreds of workers and others who had recently visited the store were seen queuing for the tests.
Freshippo has reportedly closed all 21 of its locations in Shenzhen in response to the outbreak.
Health authorities identified 19 new coronavirus cases in mainland China on Saturday, bringing the country's total to 84,827.
