Some online retailers are hoping for the government to help them raise opt-in and return rates for reusable e-commerce packaging. A survey, which follows a six-month pilot project to cut packaging waste, also shows better consumer education will be useful. Under the initiative led by WWF Singapore, shoppers who bought products from the 12 retailers involved could opt for reusable bags. The packaging could then be returned at no cost. Findings showed that a third of the 15,000 orders processed during the pilot chose reusable packaging. Half of that number returned the packaging.
