China’s e-commerce giant JD.com has expressed its intent to expand operations in Malaysia, particularly in logistics.
This followed a meeting between JD.com’s representative and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Beijing this morning.
JD.com, which serves over 580 million shoppers and operates in Malaysia via JD Global Sales, plans to purchase more Malaysian products for the Chinese market.
Anwar welcomed the move, citing Malaysia’s strategic location as a potential regional logistics hub — one that could create more job opportunities.
The company was represented by Hu Wei, CEO of JD Logistics and member of its Strategy Executive Committee.
Hu met Anwar for around 30 minutes during the prime minister’s series of engagements with China’s top industry leaders at the China World Summit Wing Hotel.
