Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is planning to invest over $1 billion in Turkey with the construction of a logistics hub at Istanbul Airport and a data center near the capital city of Ankara.
The company's president, Michael Evans, has stated that Alibaba is looking to expand in Europe and the Middle East and sees Turkey as a strong production base. The investment will position Turkey as a base for Alibaba's operations in Europe and the Middle East.
