The Greater One Horned Rhino, a true gentle giant, probably represents one of the greatest conservation success of the 21st Century. The species was almost driven to extinction by extensive poaching. However, through dedicated conservation efforts, the species is currently thriving in Assam.
Nonetheless, it should be noted that almost the entire population is restricted to Kaziranga National Park. We were very foturnate to get upclose with a rhino in Kaziranga. This big guy casually passed the jeep while grazing.
